The blog is here!

Hey world!
So after realizing its all not in the name-- İ decided to start my blog up about my adventures in Turkey. Here Ill write about all the things Im up to and have a journal for myself to remember everything as well!
Right now İ am in my host father Rıza Abi's office waiting for my class to start at Tömer upstairs in an hour. Ankara University is about an hour away from where we live in Elvan Kent, and İ luckily will get a ride with Rıza Abi and his co-worker 3 times a week for 15 lira. The co-worker is a hilarious guy, who on our way here today stated that he was still drunk from last night and pretended to drive into a person crossing the middle street as a joke-all while listening to American hip hop club hits--fun/intersesting way to start the morning! On the off days and afternoons, Ill take the minibus-which can get very crowded and very HOT.
But overall my trip to Ankara has been amazing. İ never knew how lucky İ could be. The family İ am staying with, Rıza Abi, Gülan Abla, and my little sister Öykü are truly wonderful people and İ am learning so much. Im speaking Turkish pretty much all the time, which is difficult, but pays off. Now İ have a level of understanding and ability to communicate that seemed impossible before. However İ still have a long ways to go.

Today the Tömer group is taking us on our 'cultural excursion' to a nursing home. After my clinical experience last semester at one in St Paul, İm excited to see the differences. Nursing Homes are far less common here, since most elderly live with their children so İm curios to see who is in the homes and the reasons for it is.

More to come later...but here is just little bit of my two month trip!
Hoşça Kalın,
AP

Lol @ your host father's co-worker and his jokes! Enjoy your stay and soak up as much of the Turkish culture as you can! See you when you get back,
